Future Focus CSA–FAQ

Vegetable CSA – FAQ

Q: When will the CSA begin?

A:  We expect the first basket delivery to start mid-March 2016.  Obviously weather has a pretty big roll on the actual start date.  As we get closer to March we will try and let you know how things are going.

Q: Where do the vegetables come from?

A: Future Focus has teamed up with Bornetrager Farms out of Beeville and Future Focus Farms (F3) out of Robstown for a majority of our vegetables.  We are constantly looking out for other area farmers who would like to join our CSA as well.  If you know of someone, send them our way.

Q:  What vegetables will be in the basket?

A:  We expect to have Tomatoes, Yellow Squash, Zucchini, Tatuma, Broccoli, Cantaloupe, Grey Zucchini, Cabbage, Okra, Watermelon, Pickling Cucumbers, Cucumbers, Mexican Squash, Black Berries, Roma Tomatoes, Egg Plants, Jalapenos, Beets, Green Beans, Onions, Green Onions, Cowpeas, and Bell Peppers.  There will be a variety each week as the vegetables ripen.  We are planning on a variety of 4-6 different vegetables weekly. Q:  What if I don’t like some of the vegetables listed?A:  If your basket has vegetables you don’t like, you may remove them from the basket and put them in the sharing bin.  If someone else has already put something that they did not like in there, you can exchange your dislikes for theirs.  This may require that you check back at the end of the day because the pick-up times will vary and everyone that contributes to the sharing bin may not all be there at the same time.  You can also keep what you don’t like and look for different recipes to cook them; maybe you don’t like them because you’ve only had them one way.   If there is something not on the list of vegetables that you would like to have in your basket, please send an email to wburns@futurefocusmd.com and we will work on getting it added.

Q:  How much/many vegetables will I receive each week?

A:  We are planning for a 10-lb basket each week.  This will vary by variety and availability.  We are also hoping for a monthly surprise for each basket from our Sunrise Farmers’ Market vendors…like maybe a whole pastured chicken or some baked or canned goodies.

Q:  Can I pay as I go?

A:  No.  The basis for the CSA is to allow us to plan, plant, and harvest what is needed.  Any excess harvest will be shared with the members of the CSA first.  If there is anything left over from week to week or if someone decides to leave the CSA there may be vegetables left over for sale, but we don’t expect that to be much to rely on.

Q:  When can I pick up my share?

A:  Shares will be available to be picked up weekly (or bi-weekly, depending on what you purchased) on Wednesday’s at Future Focus (3945 IH 69 Access Rd, Corpus Christi, TX 78410) from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Q:  What if something comes up and I am not able to pick my share up when I’m supposed to?

A:  You can send someone else in your place, but you will need to call ahead and let us know.  We have some flexibility for other arrangements, but we want you to receive your vegetables when they are the freshest and at the peak of their flavor.

Q:  Can I split a whole share with someone else?

A:  Once you purchase a share, you are free to split/share it with whomever you wish.  However, we ask that only one person be responsible for picking up the share each week.

Q:  Who do I contact for more information or if I have a problem?

A:  Our CSA manager is Wes Burns.  He can be reached at 361-387-3500 or it is probably better to email him at wburns@futurefocusmd.com.
